The Bali Arts Festival, locally known as Pesta Kesenian Bali, is an annual cultural event held in Bali, Indonesia. Taking place every June and lasting for about a month, the festival is a vibrant celebration of Balinese art, dance, music, and cultural heritage. Organized by the provincial government of Bali, the festival was first launched in 1979 with the aim of preserving and developing the island’s unique cultural expressions. The festival begins with a grand opening parade in front of the Bajra Sandhi Monument in Denpasar, featuring traditional costumes, dance troupes, and musical performances. Over the following weeks, the Taman Werdhi Budaya Art Centre becomes the central venue for daily performances, art exhibitions, competitions, film screenings, handicraft displays, and food stalls.
One of the highlights of the Bali Arts Festival is the variety of traditional Balinese dances performed, such as the Barong, Legong, Kecak, and Topeng. These dances are not only a form of entertainment but also an important aspect of spiritual and ceremonial life in Bali.
